Exam!

Exam! Exam! And exam!

Every one is busy preparing for their exams. Some people do not prepare much because in exams, failing has been the habit; as for some people, they would like to get better results than their last.

Whilst some students are having exam, it is also the start for some students in Matriculation and Sixth Form. Aye. One year has passed after I entered my Sixth Form last year. Time passes so fast. As not long after this, there will be another exam, which is my public examination, STPM!

Wish the best of luck for the Lower Six students, Matriculation students and the students who are having exam now.

Thank you for the present!

First thing first, this is a thank you post entry for my friends, Kuah Li Ting and Yeoh Jung Chin aka JC.

When I met Li Ting at the hallway to the canteen, she told me that she had something for me. Actually, in mandarin, I really cannot catch her words at that very moment. She just kept walking further and further as she and her friends were going to a choir performance in other school. So, I just assume that she has something to tell me... and I just wait until she is back to the school and ka-ching, she can tell me the thing she wanted to tell me about.

When I got back to the class, I thought someone has left his or her Tupperware in my drawer, I asked my friend that whose Tupperware was in my drawer. Then, he told me that it was not a Tupperware! It was a present given by Li Ting and JC for my birthday. I was surprised! I felt thankful and grateful for them remembering my birthday and gave me a surprise.

Thank you for your present! I like it very much; it is lovable and the cutest present slash thing I ever see in my life. I am grateful. Thank you. Muchas gracias amigos.

United Nation Cuisine of U6F3! Yeah!

Today was the Sixth Form Society cooking competition, my class, U6F3 came to the school very early and unluckily, the organizing committees have not set up the cooking site for the contestants yet!

Two teams for each class, a male team and a female team which pair up 3 students per team respectively. We have one back-up contestant for each group. The male team consisting Choon Siang, David, Wei Terng and Yew Keong, whereas the female team consisting Yin Theng, Chin Yen, Yee Wei and I (Duh~ because we just have three girls in U6F3, so I have to participate, as I am the only guy who are interested in cooking – I am not talking about the male team guys, other than them, I am the fourth one who cook!)

We have a cuisine theme of United Nation, because what we cook is from all around the world. We have the most common dish in which every housewife will cook in their households. We have Japanese pancake! We have an English cocktail! We have what we have, and I cannot tell in English because the dishes are named in Chinese... So, it is very difficult for me to translate. Just hope you will like it when you look at the photo that we took after we have completed our dishes in one and a half hour.

Although that we did not win, but we were still enjoying the process of cooking and the spirit of teamwork!

Zoo (zū) or Joule (jūl, joul)?

ONE is enough...

I think one is enough... However, Mr. Good Guy has explained "exothermic" in such many versions... Wow... He is such a translator! Attending his class, you will never get bored, because you are entertained by him!

You know what he said? Aiyoh! You people look so tired. "Yes," we replied. He said, "Aiyoh! You all sit there listen only, still tired ah! I have to teach and explain and yet ACT for you all..." Haha...

WHAT do you WANT more than a PRIZE?

BEFORE...AFTER...

What would you get when you are talking in Ang Soo Beng Chemistry class? I do not think that is a bad thing for me. As a matter of fact, I think that is such a prize for the students who talk in his class. Why? Proceed with your reading......

Ah?! I think you would probably say, err... the students are going to get a lecture by him. Students are going to get scolded by him? Or even worse... he will get out of the class and teach no more... Are these you can figure? Ah ha! I guess you are wrong if you guess these!

Mr. Ang Soo Beng is just like an angel with no anger! He is so nice and great! He will not scold his students... I wonder why?? He will not get mad either. Wow! He is so nice until no one can compare with him. But... but... what students will get when they are talking whilst he is teaching, is getting urges by him... What urges per se? It is simply ‘OI’!

Here’s an example. I have illustrated what he would have done to the students who talk in his class in the figure above... Lee Chong and friends always get that!! So, what do you want more than being “OI” by Mr. Ang Soo Beng?

More sopilers of teachers? Coming soon...

The more you know, the juicier it gets... ...

Ang Soo Beng-Faraday's constant...

What Ang Soo Beng does everytime in my class is hilarous. If you take a video in his lesson, you can edit many things with his actions, it is kind of like a magician show, but you have to edit it with the voulme off, just like the mime show. Haha.

Here is a short diagram I deduced when he was teaching... The throwing electrons is exactly how he acted for us in the class... ... Take a look

Do not test my patience

Yesterday, 28th of March, was the last day of Form 6 photography session for the graduation magazine.

It was Mathematics lesson, a lot of students were not in class. The teacher has already came in, and he said, “okay, lets look at the topic of finding ‘sum to a finite series’.” Not many listened to him as they were busy talking and chatting. I can sense that today, he was not very happy and his mood was real down. He has already prepared to teach the new topic, he has already spoken, he waited there with the whiteboard marker on his hand.

However, the students on the other side were still not bother to take out their books and shut up and listen to him. Then, he was furious. He lectured them with a heavy ton. “Hey! What the hell is this! I am here for a long time, and you are sitting there talking all the way, what do you think is this? I have been trying very hard to teach you all, I even try my very best of my best to teach the best to you all, and you are sitting there talking,” he said to the students at the other side.

What the heck! They were still talking whilst the teacher lectured them. The talking ones were Lee Chong, Boon Teik, Kay Keat, Ghee Hong and other students who sit at the right in the class. Okay, that was fine at first; but he was lecturing, Chin Siang and Kay Keat still talking, to their friends. Ah uh, it was not good!

After he noticed that there were students still talking while he was speaking, he was really mad. Ooi Boon Lim said, “If you do not want to attend the lesson, you get out of the class!” Wow. The first time I saw him so mad, because throughout the months, he was kind of jovial kind and never get mad. He continued, “I have been very patient to you all every time I came in to your class and you were talking there. Even when I was teaching the half way, you were talking there. For the goodness sake! Look at your Mathematics marks! Do you think that is very proud of you to get such low marks?!” “Out! Both of you get out now!!” They refused to get out of the class, and they were acting stupid and innocent. “I said get out now!” he shouted at them. Eventually, Ooi Boon Lim did not bother them as they did not want to get out from the class.

Yesterday, it was very quiet throughout his lesson. However, I like him being very serious in his lesson. Surprisingly, what he taught yesterday I have much impression, and I like him in the serious way of teaching. I absorbed more, and learned more. Yeah, honestly, I have not paid my full attention to his lesson when he was being jovial. Now, I know I have to stop that attitude and be in the serious way. Yes, it helped me learned better in Mathematics. In conclusion, I like him teaching in a serious way and I learn a lot faster and better.

Why English is important?

If you are currently learning English in a school, college or institute of further education, you join approximately one billion other people around the world who are engaged in the same pursuit. However, as you try to memorise proper grammar, and try to avoid the mistakes common to most students of English, you may wonder why you are learning the language in the first place.

So, why is English important?

After Mandarin, English is spoken by more people than any other language, and is the native language of more than 350 million people. More people speak English than those who speak the Arabic and French languages combined.

Moreover, English is the international language of diplomacy, business, science, technology, banking, computing, medicine, aviation, UN & NATO armed forces, engineering, tourism, Hollywood films and arguably the best pop and rock music in the world.

English has plenty of words to choose from. In fact, an English speaker is offered the biggest vocabulary of any language with a choice of 500 000 to 1 000 000 words (including technical and scientific terms).

But don’t panic, most English speakers do very well with a vocabulary of around 20 000 words.

English can be fun too. For instance, the music of such stars as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and Madonna has encouraged fans to speak the language of their idols, whilst others have enrolled in English classes to improve their understanding of the dialogue in films and TV shows.

Or perhaps they have embraced English to enjoy the writing of Stephen King, George Orwell or J.K. Rowling. They may even have an interest in speaking English just to converse with travelers from other countries, who communicate by using the English global Interlingua while traveling abroad.

Finally, if you are studying English at school, college or university, remember that getting an “A” grade in English is almost worthless, in terms of communication, if you cannot speak the language.

Spoken English is used in the best careers, the best universities, and is increasingly being used at job interviews. So like it or not, English is very important language to learn how to speak.

Being able to read and write in English is not enough!
