Ang Soo Beng-Faraday's constant...

What Ang Soo Beng does everytime in my class is hilarous. If you take a video in his lesson, you can edit many things with his actions, it is kind of like a magician show, but you have to edit it with the voulme off, just like the mime show. Haha.

Here is a short diagram I deduced when he was teaching... The throwing electrons is exactly how he acted for us in the class... ... Take a look

Do not test my patience

Yesterday, 28th of March, was the last day of Form 6 photography session for the graduation magazine.

It was Mathematics lesson, a lot of students were not in class. The teacher has already came in, and he said, “okay, lets look at the topic of finding ‘sum to a finite series’.” Not many listened to him as they were busy talking and chatting. I can sense that today, he was not very happy and his mood was real down. He has already prepared to teach the new topic, he has already spoken, he waited there with the whiteboard marker on his hand.

However, the students on the other side were still not bother to take out their books and shut up and listen to him. Then, he was furious. He lectured them with a heavy ton. “Hey! What the hell is this! I am here for a long time, and you are sitting there talking all the way, what do you think is this? I have been trying very hard to teach you all, I even try my very best of my best to teach the best to you all, and you are sitting there talking,” he said to the students at the other side.

What the heck! They were still talking whilst the teacher lectured them. The talking ones were Lee Chong, Boon Teik, Kay Keat, Ghee Hong and other students who sit at the right in the class. Okay, that was fine at first; but he was lecturing, Chin Siang and Kay Keat still talking, to their friends. Ah uh, it was not good!

After he noticed that there were students still talking while he was speaking, he was really mad. Ooi Boon Lim said, “If you do not want to attend the lesson, you get out of the class!” Wow. The first time I saw him so mad, because throughout the months, he was kind of jovial kind and never get mad. He continued, “I have been very patient to you all every time I came in to your class and you were talking there. Even when I was teaching the half way, you were talking there. For the goodness sake! Look at your Mathematics marks! Do you think that is very proud of you to get such low marks?!” “Out! Both of you get out now!!” They refused to get out of the class, and they were acting stupid and innocent. “I said get out now!” he shouted at them. Eventually, Ooi Boon Lim did not bother them as they did not want to get out from the class.

Yesterday, it was very quiet throughout his lesson. However, I like him being very serious in his lesson. Surprisingly, what he taught yesterday I have much impression, and I like him in the serious way of teaching. I absorbed more, and learned more. Yeah, honestly, I have not paid my full attention to his lesson when he was being jovial. Now, I know I have to stop that attitude and be in the serious way. Yes, it helped me learned better in Mathematics. In conclusion, I like him teaching in a serious way and I learn a lot faster and better.

Goddess of Mercy Birthday

Today is the Goddess of Mercy, what we Chinese called "Guan Yim Ma" in Hokkien. Still remember the movie of "I Not Stupid" which directed by Jack Neo of Singapore? The 'Kee Tang' (the person who communicates with the gods and goddesses) asked the mother of a child go to www.guanyimma.com and print some talisman (Ang Kong Hoo) and ask his son whose overboard to burn it and drink with water! Haha! (Its a fake! It is not existed!) - as this is for entertainment!

Aye. Today is the Goddess of Mercy birthday. Have you gone to the temples and give some simple praying to the Goddess? or perhaps you will play the Mantra of Heart or Mantras which related to Goddess of Mercy to listen.

Lunar Date: Second month, nineteenth day.
Here are the pictures I took in year 2005 when Ms Loh Pei Yee took us for a visit to Kek Lok Si before she finished her training in Chung Ling High School. It was 3 years back... I was having so much fun out there. And there was a foreign couple who asked me to take a snap for them with the Goddess of Mercy. How nice!

Trusted You.

When are you going to trust your partner? When are you are going to do that? When? When...? When...? When...?

If you are smart enough in your relationship, you are going to trust your partner, come what may. This is a very huge yet thick wall between both parties.

Trust your partner before any tragedy happens. When you are about to suspect your partner when he is going to some places, you are going to doom your own relationship with him.

One day, you ask him, “Are you having someone else besides me?”

This is a no-no question to ask. Think about it, if he has someone else with him, do you think he still cares about being with you? This will worsen the situation. Yes, you should trust that he loves you; he cares for you, which are why he is still with you. If he asks you the same question, I bet you are going to have the same feeling too. You will feel, is he still loves me? Why would he ask me this?

You trust your loved one and you let go. If you hold it too tight, you are breaking it in a way. With all do respect, you need to respect and trust your loved one.

A married couple was asking each other where they were gone to when they were apart? Do you think both parties are going to be okay with that? No!

If you care enough, you would trust your partner in whatever way. No matter how words and rumours had been spread in this world, he is still your loved one; he still holds the throne in your heart. Yes.

He trusted you; he thinks of you come what may.
He trusted you; he will not think of you when something good happens; in fact, he will think of you when something awful happens. How sweet he will feel when he had you by his side to counteract the hurdles.

He trusted you; he tells you things that he never tells anyone.
He trusted you; he won’t tell you everything, because he knows you know
about him, in which he does not have to say anything to you, as you already know what he would do, and what he would not do.

He trusted you; he does things that won’t hurt you.
He trusted you; he does things that hurt you the most, when you started to suspect him.

He trusted you; he loves the way being with you.
He trusted you; he does not feel the same way when he is with somebody else. He still loves the way being with you.

He trusted you; he gives up something for you.
He trusted you; he sometimes will let you give up something for him.

He trusted you; he says everything when he is happy.
He trusted you; he says nothing when he is sad, because he knows you will say the words.

He trusted you; he does not say something through language.
He trusted you; he will not tell you things through language. In fact, he tells in a language written between you both. A language that you both only know.

He trusted you; he gives nothing to you on special days.
He trusted you; he gives you his words on special days.

He trusted you; he knows you are the best for him.
He trusted you; he knows you are his guardian angel.

He trusted you; he is touched by you.
He trusted you; he touches you.

You have T-R-U-S-T, you have everything that you need in this world, and you do not need anything more than this.

Love Perhaps?

Think about this... Think and consider... Think and think again... It helps in your relationship.

Here is a conversation of a daily routine, by a normal guy expressing his feeling. What this guy is not showing on the outside is what worth to think about.

Alex told his friend about what he thinks and how he feels of his girlfriend.

Alex : Hey, I do care about my girlfriend so much and I am not even limiting her to do her own stuffs and let alone her freedom. I don’t keep her with me all the time.

Friend: Wow! You are a considerate boyfriend! So, what do you think if she goes over her friends and have a little girly talk?

Alex : Oh, that. I like her be with her friends. I don’t ask her to not to go to her friends’ houses, as she has her own space, doesn’t she? Duh~

Friend: Yeah, you are right!

Wow, seems like Alex is so perfect towards his girlfriend. However, that is just a basis of what we can hear from a conversation and we cannot observe and notice how Alex actually feels.

Now, let us take a deeper look at this problem. Let’s seek deep down to his heart and soul. Did he really think that? Allowing his girlfriend to go over to her friends and he will not even care for the time she spends with her friends? Does he really feel like letting her to go to anywhere?

I don’t think so... Yeah, basically, what he thinks and speaks to his friend is that he cares. However, I have the feeling that Alex has a heart-ache.

Sometimes, we wish that our girlfriend / boyfriend / what-so-ever we may call to be with us. Every time. Just like we need to have them by our sides every time and every day. But, why did Alex say that he like his girlfriend to do that and he is not limiting her boundaries?

When we sometime speak of letting someone we love to do something, without us being by their side, actually we don’t really feel like doing it. Do you not think this is true? Is this our selfish side? We want them by our sides while they are doing their own stuff, even though that situation is totally unrelated to us. For instance, Alex’s girlfriend tells him that she needs to go over to her friend’s house to work on a few tasks. The next moment, Alex says, “Oh, you are going to there. Hmm... I will be with you to help you. Two heads is better than one!” Alex will have a feeling that when she is going over to her friend’s house, she will not be spending time with him, so, he takes the initiative to offer himself to be with her and to help her in her tasks.

We say that we care about them; we love them, but are these really what the reasons are? Or is this what we call ‘jealousy’? We just cannot stand that someone we love be with somebody else and we are not there with them to observe what they are doing, is this the reason we do that? Or we really care, and want to be with them to look after them every second, every minute?

This is a problem that occurs all the time and I don’t think many couples had worked it out before. This is not just happen to couples, it happens to everyone and anyone. We are capable of doing anything in this world.

Do you think this is fairly jealousy or that we really love them to be with us? We need time to be with them, to care about them, to love and nurture them, and have them by our sides. Or we need to let them have their little space and the end result is: both parties will be very happy.

He loves me, he thinks of me, he misses me, he knows me, he talks about me, and he will love me more when he has a little space. Aye.

Love is not expressed on the outside, it is in the heart.

It is good to have distance sometimes. We will know how to cherish the moment, we will know how to put someone we love in our heart, we will think of them when the right time has come, we will know what to do during this distance, and when we think more, we love more; when we love more, we cherish more; when we cherish more, we want the best for both of us; when we want the best for both of us, we know, in our hearts, we have each other and there is nothing more than everything and anything in the universe that can break the bond between us. This is what makes us strong, stronger, stronger, and stronger; and we are unbreakable.

Fig Bars

Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Zest of 1 lemon
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
3 cups dried Calimyrna figs
1/4 cup honey
1 cup red wine
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon finely ground pepper

Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar with the paddle attachment of an electric mixer. Add egg, 1 egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon zest; mix well. Add flour and salt; mix on low speed until dough just comes together. Wrap dough in plastic, and chill until firm, about 1 hour.

2. To make the filling, combine figs, honey, wine, 1 cup water, cinnamon, and pepper in a small saucepan, and cook over low heat, stirring often, until reduced to a thick paste, about 10 to 15 minutes. Spread filling on a baking sheet to cool.

3. Divide dough in half. Roll out one half to fit a 10-by-15-inch baking sheet. Pick up dough by wrapping it around a rolling pin, and unroll it onto baking sheet.

4. Spread fig filling evenly over pastry. Roll out remaining half of dough, and cover filling. Trim excess pastry to make a perfect rectangle. Chill for 1 hour.

5. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Use a paring knife to score dough lightly into 1-by-3-inch bars. Use a fork to prick holes in each bar. Make an egg wash by combining remaining egg yolk with 1 teaspoon water. Lightly brush bars with egg wash. Bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Cut into bars, and let cool.

ENJOY! And MAKE ONE FOR YOURSELF~

Bermuda Triangle [Devil's Triangle]

Grouping: Paranormal places

AKA: Devil's Triangle

Country: International Waters

Status: Urban Legend

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a region of the northwestern Atlantic Ocean in which a number of aircraft and surface vessels have disappeared in what are said to be circumstances that fall beyond the boundaries of human error or acts of nature. Some of these disappearances have been attributed to the paranormal, a suspension of the laws of physics, or activity by extraterrestrial beings by popular culture. Although substantial documentation exists showing numerous incidents to have been inaccurately reported or embellished by later authors, there is no doubt that many ships and airplanes have been lost in the area.

The Triangle Area

The boundaries of the Triangle vary with the author; some stating its shape is akin to a trapezoid covering the Straits of Florida, the Bahamas, and the entire Caribbean island area east to the Azores; others add to it the Gulf of Mexico. The more familiar, triangular boundary in most written works has as its points somewhere on the Atlantic coast of Florida; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda, with most of the accidents concentrated along the southern boundary around the Bahamas and the Florida Straits.

The area is one of the most heavily-sailed shipping lanes in the world, with ships crossing through it daily for ports in the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. Cruise ships are also plentiful, and pleasure craft regularly go back and forth between Florida and the islands. It is also a heavily flown route for commercial and private aircraft heading towards Florida, the Caribbean, and South America from points north.
The Gulf Stream ocean current flows through the Triangle after leaving the Gulf of Mexico; its current of five to six knots may have played a part in a number of disappearances. Sudden storms can and do appear, and in the summer to late fall hurricanes strike the area. The combination of heavy maritime traffic and tempestuous weather makes it inevitable that vessels could founder in storms and be lost without a trace – especially before improved telecommunications, radar, and satellite technology arrived late in the 20th century.

Brief History

Acording to the Triangle authors, Christopher Columbus was the first person to document something strange in the Triangle, reporting that he and his crew observed "strange dancing lights on the horizon", flames in the sky, and at another point he wrote in his log about bizarre compass bearings in the area. From his log book, dated October 11, 1492 he wrote:

The land was first seen by a sailor (Rodrigo de Triana), although the Admiral at ten o'clock that evening standing on the quarter-deck saw a light, but so small a body that he could not affirm it to be land; calling to Pero Gutiérrez, groom of the King's wardrobe, he told him he saw a light, and bid him look that way, which he did and saw it; he did the same to Rodrigo Sánchez of Segovia, whom the King and Queen had sent with the squadron as comptroller, but he was unable to see it from his situation. The Admiral again perceived it once or twice, appearing like the light of a wax candle moving up and down, which some thought an indication of land. But the Admiral held it for certain that land was near...

Modern scholars checking the original log books have surmised that the lights he saw were the cooking fires of Taino natives in their canoes or on the beach; the compass problems were the result of a false reading based on the movement of a star.

The first article of any kind in which the legend of the Triangle began appeared in newspapers by E.V.W. Jones on September 16, 1950, through the Associated Press. Two years later, Fate magazine published "Sea Mystery At Our Back Door", a short article by George X. Sand in the October 1952 issue covering the loss of several planes and ships, including the loss of Flight 19, a group of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger bombers on a training mission. Sand's article was the first to lay out the now-familiar triangular area where the losses took place. Flight 19 alone would be covered in the April 1962 issue of American Legion Magazine. The article was titled "The Lost Patrol", by Allen W. Eckert, and in his story it was claimed that the flight leader had been heard saying "We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, no white." It was also claimed that officials at the Navy board of inquiry stated that the planes "flew off to Mars." "The Lost Patrol" was the first to connect the supernatural to Flight 19, but it would take another author, Vincent Gaddis, writing in the February 1964 Argosy Magazine to take Flight 19 together with other mysterious disappearances and place it under the umbrella of a new catchy name: "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle";[6] he would build on that article with a more detailed book, Invisible Horizons, the next year. Others would follow with their own works: John Wallace Spencer (Limbo of the Lost, 1969); Charles Berlitz (The Bermuda Triangle, 1974); Richard Winer (The Devil's Triangle, 1974), and many others, all keeping to some of the same supernatural elements outlined by Eckert.

There are some others explaination to this Bermuda Triangle, which is the Kusche's Explanation and other responses.

Natural Explanations:
There are Acts of Man for this History explanation too, which are:

Famous Incidents:
FLIGHT 19

US Navy TBF Grumman Avenger flight, similar to Flight 19. This photo had been used by various Triangle authors to illustrate Flight 19 itself.
Flight 19 was a training flight of TBM Avenger bombers that went missing on December 5, 1945 while over the Atlantic. The impression is given that the flight encountered unusual phenomena and anomalous compass readings, and that the flight took place on a calm day under the supervision of an experienced pilot, Lt. Charles Carroll Taylor. Adding to the intrigue is that the Navy's report of the accident was ascribed to "causes or reasons unknown." It is believed that Taylor's mother wanted to save her son's reputation, so she made them write "reasons unknown" when actually Taylor was 50 km NW from where he thought he was.

While the basic facts of this version of the story are essentially accurate, some important details are missing. The weather was becoming stormy by the end of the incident; only Taylor had any significant flying time, but he was not familiar with the south Florida area and had a history of getting lost in flight, having done so three times during World War II, and being forced to ditch his planes twice into the water; and naval reports and written recordings of the conversations between Taylor and the other pilots of Flight 19 do not indicate magnetic problems.

CARROLL A. DEERING

Schooner Carroll A. Deering, as seen from the Cape Lookout lightship on January 29, 1921, two days before she was found deserted in North Carolina. (US Coast Guard)

A five-masted schooner built in 1919, the Carroll A. Deering was found hard aground and abandoned at Diamond Shoals, near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on January 31, 1921. Rumors and more at the time indicated the Deering was a victim of piracy, possibly connected with the illegal rum-running trade during Prohibition, and possibly involving another ship, S.S. Hewitt, which disappeared at roughly the same time. Just hours later, an unknown steamer sailed near the lightship along the track of the Deering, and ignored all signals from the lightship. It is speculated that the Hewitt may have been this mystery ship, and possibly involved in the Deering crew's disappearance.

Why English is important?

If you are currently learning English in a school, college or institute of further education, you join approximately one billion other people around the world who are engaged in the same pursuit. However, as you try to memorise proper grammar, and try to avoid the mistakes common to most students of English, you may wonder why you are learning the language in the first place.

So, why is English important?

After Mandarin, English is spoken by more people than any other language, and is the native language of more than 350 million people. More people speak English than those who speak the Arabic and French languages combined.

Moreover, English is the international language of diplomacy, business, science, technology, banking, computing, medicine, aviation, UN & NATO armed forces, engineering, tourism, Hollywood films and arguably the best pop and rock music in the world.

English has plenty of words to choose from. In fact, an English speaker is offered the biggest vocabulary of any language with a choice of 500 000 to 1 000 000 words (including technical and scientific terms).

But don’t panic, most English speakers do very well with a vocabulary of around 20 000 words.

English can be fun too. For instance, the music of such stars as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and Madonna has encouraged fans to speak the language of their idols, whilst others have enrolled in English classes to improve their understanding of the dialogue in films and TV shows.

Or perhaps they have embraced English to enjoy the writing of Stephen King, George Orwell or J.K. Rowling. They may even have an interest in speaking English just to converse with travelers from other countries, who communicate by using the English global Interlingua while traveling abroad.

Finally, if you are studying English at school, college or university, remember that getting an “A” grade in English is almost worthless, in terms of communication, if you cannot speak the language.

Spoken English is used in the best careers, the best universities, and is increasingly being used at job interviews. So like it or not, English is very important language to learn how to speak.

Being able to read and write in English is not enough!

2 3/4 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
2 cups orange nonpareils

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat the bottom of a 9-inch square baking pan or dish with cooking spray. Line bottom with parchment paper, and set aside.

2. Melt chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.

3. Put 2 cups sugar and eggs in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Beat on medium-low speed until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add chocolate mixture. Beat on low speed until combined. Beat in vanilla, then flour and salt.

4. Pour butter into prepared pan. Bake until a cake tester inserted into center comes out mostly clean, 30 to 35 minutes (do not over-bake). 6. Trim off hard edges of brownie square. Scoop out 1 tablespoon brownie, and roll into a ball with your hands, pushing crunchy surface pieces into center. Transfer to a clean work surface. Repeat to make more brownie bits. Generously brush brownie bits with sugar syrup. Roll in nonpareils to coat well. Brownie bits can be made up to 3 days ahead and refrigerated, tightly covered.

Penang's new Chief Minister waives summonses

NEW Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has introduced a series of populist decisions from giving a one-time waiver of summonses issued by local councils to the abandoning of New Economic Policy measures by the state administration.

He said the state government also wanted to foster harmonious relations with the Federal Government in all respects and he would seek an appointment with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to discuss moves to address the needs of the people of Penang.

He said this during a press conference after being sworn in as Chief Minister at his new office in Komtar here on Tuesday.

Mr Lim said the key areas of the new agenda for Penang included the economy, governance and social needs of the people.

He said the agenda for change would 're-establish rule by the rakyat.'

He also said that the Chief Minister, state exco members, speaker and deputy speaker, as well as the heads of the Penang and Seberang Prai municipal councils would be required to publicly declare their personal assets.
On the move to waive summonses issued by the Penang and Seberang Prai Municipal Councils before March 11, Mr Lim said the move was to help reduce the burden faced by the people, especially the poor.

However, further offences of such nature would not be excused, he said.

Mr Lim said he hoped to discuss with Mr Abdullah the possibility of using Petronas' proceeds to fully fund the construction cost of the Federal Government's second Penang Bridge project.

He also hoped federal funding to Penang would not be affected by the change of government, adding that the funding was provided for under the Federal Constitution.

'I don't think Abdullah wants to see Penangites suffer just because they exercised their right to vote in the March 8 elections,' he said.

On how he felt being the Chief Minister, Mr Lim replied: 'Being a former prisoner, I did not expect to sit on the chief minister's chair. It is really a transformation and quite an experience for me.' -- The Star/ANN.

Do you think Lim Guan Eng ROCKZ??
